Crying, she wipes frantically at a fallen cigarette ember. The burn hurts; the ruined thin white blouse hurts more. The new purchase was meant for my parents. She’s seeking their acceptance before we live together. Sobbing, she blurts out, “I’m a failure. Nothing ever works.” Immediately, I propose.




Sander Blome maintains his stability by writing poetry and fiction from his residence in Southwest Florida. A writing tutor by profession, Sander is adding to his engineering and law degrees this fall, entering the literature program at the University of South Florida.
